Seoul 2010: In a nutshell

Well, in my previous post of Seoul in a nutshell was more of a generic overview and how I felt about the city. I don’t really know what to sum up for this journey; I shall write whatever pointers that comes to mind ^^”

Ordering food in Korea

As my friend and I could speak Korean, it was easy getting by whenever we were in a restaurant. Despite so, there were times when we could not understand the terms of some dishes. If you have zero knowledge of the Korean language, I would suggest you request for an English menu. Some ahjumma would notice that you’re a foreigner and automatically bringing one to you, without asking. (more…)

Seoul 2010: Han River Ferry Cruise 한강유람선

Heading to the Han River (hangang) is something you have to do when you visit Seoul! It is the main river in Seoul that separates the city into the Northern and Southern area. There are MANY (ALOT) of different bridges that stretches across the river; the most popular one would definitely be the Banpo Bridge – where the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain show is held every day. Unfortunately, I’ve not seen it before 😦

Seoul 2010: Changdeokgung Palace 창덕궁 (UNESCO World Heritage)

I think the charm about Seoul is that palaces are well-maintained, despite being in a bustling city filled with tons of commercial buildings. There are four main palaces in Seoul: Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung and Gyeongbokgung – all which are easily accessible via subway. If you’re interested in the history of the palaces in Korea, you may purchase a single-priced ticket at 10,000W and have access to all palaces – pretty good deal!

Seoul 2010: YG Entertainment Building (Old vs New)

Confession: I am a fan of YG Family!!!
I wouldn’t dare say that I am a fan of Kpop because I am only supportive of artistes from YG. Yes, I am biased but that’s because I like the direction of music that they’re headed to. Papa YG seem to have that foresight, somehow. Hats off!

Anyway, that aside… since I am a fan of YG FAM, why not pay a visit to the building where all the awesome people are working in? I was really lucky because my first visit to Seoul in 2009, YG Entertainment was still situated in an old (rundown) building. And when I returned to Seoul in 2010, the new YG Entertainment building was up! OH YAY 😀 Comparing both buildings back then and now, you can really see how much YG grew as a business. Papa YG has to really thank Big Bang for that – it’s no secret that their debut made a huge difference. (more…)

Seoul 2010: Isaac Toast 이삭토스트

Hmm… Isaac Toast was more like an unexpected discovery for us, and we didn’t know it was popular in Korea till we returned home. There were many franchises in Seoul; some which were cafes, some which were merely stand-alone stalls along the streets. The one that we went to was in Myeongdong if I was not mistaken. It was near to where we stayed and we were just making our way to the subway that we decided to get a different type of breakfast (instead of our usual kimbap). (more…)
